The Swan Hotel

The Swan Hotel
The Hythe, Staines, Middlesex TW18 3JB
Tel: +44 (0) 1784 452494

This is a very nice building on bank of the Thames, just opposite the Anne Boleyn. The rooms are nice, but they don't have their own toilet/bathrooms unless you're lucky to get a suite. The food is nice, though.

Some words from their promotional leaflet:
We refer to the "Swan Hotel" as being in Staines, however it actually stands on the South Bank overlooking the Thames by Staines Bridge in The Hythe, Egham. The present building is eighteenth century, with later additions, although there are references to "The Swan" as far back as the fifteenth century.

The Old Worlde Inn was frequented by the river bargemen, who were actually paid in tokens, which thy could exchange at the Swan for food and drinks. The long mooring and the traditional 'Pub' atmosphere has been maintained to his day, as has the warm and friendly welcome.

Restaurant opening hours:
Monday - Saturday: 11:00 - 23:00
Sunday: 12:00 - 22:30

Courses

Mushroom Stroganoff
A nice vegetarian stroganoff served with rice. It's got a creamy sauce and a light seasoning and is not a heavy meal. Unfortunately, it was taken off the menu in November.

Chocolate Fudge Cake
Served with some white, tasteless, creamy thing, the cake itself is tasty, but a bit too dry. It's delicately garnished, contrary to the Jade Garden desserts. However, if you're going for fudge cake in Staines, try the one at Pizza Express.
